Building a Healthy & Resilient Home Virtual Cohort

Learning is better with friends.

Building a Healthy & Resilient Home Virtual Cohort

Why Join the Cohort?

CLASS + CONSULTING + COMMUNITY

There's a lot to learn about how to build a healthy home, and it can be overwhelming.  My cohort gives you all the best I have to offer - live Zooms where I teach and answer questions about the material, one on one help in between, and a community of friends building in your climate, right alongside you.

By the end of the 10 week session, you'll have a plan for your build, an understanding of why you made the decisions you made, and an detailed customized inspection checklist to make sure your home gets built the way you want it to be built.

Is the Cohort for You?

This cohort is for you if you're several months from breaking ground and are making — or about to make — the major decisions that shape a healthy, resilient home.

The cohort is now the only way that Practical Healthy Homes is onboarding new clients. It includes the best of all we have to offer, and provides a structured program for getting you set up to succeed.

About My Classes

Cohort

Humid Climate Cohorts will meet September through December 2026. Dry Climate Cohorts will meet in Spring 2027. (Value: $2500)

Buying Healthy Land (and Keeping It That Way!)

Refine what is most important to you in a property, how to screen for and mitigate various environmental toxins, and how to find a realtor – in just a few hours. I'll also teach you options beyond Glyphosate for maintaining vegetation near your home. (Value: $49.99)

Building a Healthy and Resilient Home

Every major decision you’ll need to make to build your healthy home. By the end, you'll have a personalized requirements document you can hand to your architect, designer, or design-builder and say, this is what the home should look like and, more importantly, this is how it should be built. (Value: $699.99)

How It Works

5 Live Small-Group Sessions Over Zoom

I teach and answer questions about the curriculum. Then you head into climate-specific breakout rooms to work through your plans with peers building in similar conditions. (Value: $300)

  • Session 1 (Week 2): Buying Healthy Land (Buying Healthy Land class)

  • Session 2 (Week 4): Build Science Basics and Home Design (Building a Healthy and Resilient Home Modules 1-5)

  • Session 3 (Week 6): Wall and Foundation Assembly (BHRH Modules 6-9)

  • Session 4 (Week 8): Mechanicals, Electrical, and Plumbing (BHRH Modules 10-13)

  • Session 5 (Week 10): Finishes, Landscaping, and Contractors (BHRH Modules 14-16)

The mixed/warm/hot climate zones (4, 3, 2) meetings will take place every other Tuesday from 8-9PM EST, starting September  31.  The cool/cold climate zones (7, 6, 5) meetings will take place every other Thursday from 8-9PM EST, starting October 8.  We'll have a general meeting and then break out into humid and dry breakout rooms.

Can't make a session live? All sessions are recorded and posted within 24 hours.

What You'll Walk Away With

A Complete Design

By the end of the cohort, you'll have a full specification for your healthy home.

A Customized Inspection Checklist

Covering 26 stages of construction, this checklist tells you, your inspector, and your contractor exactly what needs to be correct before moving to the next stage.  It goes far beyond code minimum. It helps you catch issues before they become problems. I will customize it for the design that you have specified and for your climate. (Value: $650)

Personalized Feedback

Every two weeks, I review your specific project and send back personalized written feedback. Not general comments — actual guidance on your plans. (Value: $650)

One On-One Consulting

After the live sessions wrap up, we’ll meet for an hour over Zoom so I can address any last questions about your specific plan. (Value: $150)

Your Cohort Community

You'll join a Whatsapp chat with other students building healthy homes in a similar climate, where I am present and answering questions for the full 10 weeks. The cohort will end but the community doesn’t– you can keep helping each other find contractors and subs and navigate construction, long after the class wraps up. (Value: Priceless)

Ongoing Consulting if Needed

Once the cohort ends, I’m available at my regular $150 hourly rate  - if you need it. It’s very possible you’ll get everything you need from the cohort!

Value: $2500

Cohort Price: $1500 for the first cohorts for each climate. Price increases to $2000 for future cohorts.
